Would like to her from shipmates that served during 1972/72. April 19,1972 will always be a day I'll never forget! I thank each and every shipmate who helped me and my brother ( SM3 Guardado,Mike) during this difficult time. If I had to do it all over, I would be fighting to be first. The officers & crew were and are the best and I'll never ever be able to thank them enough.

The ship was and is a "Grand Ole Lady".  The Navy does need to rename a new ship after this grand lady.

i knew your brother Mike. When we got hit at Don Hoi by the mig i was the top side look out. Mike and I used to shoot the breeze all the time.

anyone know a norman?  (hispanic descent)--cant remeber last name. It was during this period when it was docked at subic bay phils.
